El Buzo shark skin strap

El Buzo with a handmade band. The band maker is Jacobo from Jacobstraps, here you are his web site http://www.jrartesania.com/
I don't like the divers with leather band... but this band and this watch are AMAZING!

  1. Hi,

sorry for my english i'll try to be as clear as possible :D
I saw on this blog that you own about 4 Casio ARW 320 (envy ^_^), I own one too (orange button) and it need some service: it must be cleaned so I have to remove the movement.
The big deal is that I have no idea how to pull out the crown from the movement.

So, briefly: Do you know how to get off the movement from the casio arw320?

Thank you very much and have a good day ;-)

  2. Hello!

There is a small hole and the word "PUSH" over the steel piece. Press the hole with a needle or thin pin and then you can release the crown.

(here you can see the hole and PUSH: http://img44.imageshack.us/img44/4664/arwback800x600.jpg)
    good luck!

    Toni

    4. close to the crown, over the steel plate there are the words "PUSH" and "AC".

The small between the AC and PUSH words is the one you should push to remove the crown.

    6. thank you sir. i try my pen and my needle it was not coming out, so i had to take off the metal plate and then unscrew the top part, then lose up this one part that hold the crown and it come out.

I had to do it that way becuase the hole you was talking about is nothing but plastic black wall under the hole.

so im not sure if each motherbourd is the same on some arws, can you help me on that one pls.

also i had to remove a plate that was hold in by tuble face tape, what kind of tape is that and where can i google at to get it.

again thanks so muuch for the point that you add in the photo and i hope to hear from you very soon.

    9. TAPE??? I'm sorry I don't catch you.

You need a set of watch maker screwdrivers.

Bergeon are the best, but not cheap, or you can buy a chinese or indian set at ebay for few bucks

    12. hi, thanks for helping me with taken off the crown.

i need a new gasket for the watch, can u tell me what size i need and where can i find it at. i been google but cant find no one.

    13. It is a special shaped gasket, so I think the only way to get it is asking on a Casio shop... and I'm not sure if they still have spares for this watch.

If you are able to get them, also ask for the button gaskets, the watch must be waterproof in all possible holes, not only on the caseback.

good luck! (you need it :( )

    15. I don't have gaskets for this watch, and if you are talking about the complete watch, at this moment I don't plan to sell any of my ARW-320

  3. Thank you Toni!!! I'll try when I come back home. You know if is it possible to remove also the four buttons on the watch?

    you're very kind, thanks!!

  4. yes! you can remove the buttons. You should release a small metal part. Be careful to reassembly the small o-rings and metal parts in the right order if you plan to keep the watch water proof.
If the O-rings are broken or damaged you should replace them and I really don't know if you will find them in a Casio dealer :(

  5. Thank you, again, Toni ;)
    Succesfully dissasmbled the awr!
unfurnately, on a button one of the two rubber rings were a little bit damaged but it is not broken at all: only a curl of rubber on one side (like if it was sharpened like a pencil).
By the way the major problem is that one steel ring (the one between the spring and the rubber rings) on one button was missing, I think it was mistaken by Casio service during a repair in later '90.
I'll try to replace it by something eventually made of plastic... otherwise I'lll leave one button without this ring (as it was in these years): maybe the adjuist button is a good candidate (the one that was without ring was the start&stop).

Think that re-assemble everything (mainly block-rings of the four buttons) will not be really simple but... I'll try :D

Meantime I changed a battery on another Casio (an old and beautiful) AW-40 "field trainer", found the main gasket in a good shape and not broken but it is stiff, do you know some treatment to give back some kind of elasticity?

Thanks you, again 'n again, a lot! ;-)
    Have a nice day

  6. the ARW will work without the steel part or with a damaged o-ring, but take care with the water... a few pressure on the o-ring, or a possible water entrance can destroy the watch :(
It is not easy to bring the elasticity to gaskets or bands... try to leave it in oil or silicone grease for few days, but for sure it won't get the original flexibility :(

  7. P.S. to clean the bigger parts (watchcase, sensor plaques and buttons) I think to use a small ultrasonic washer. I saw that you use water and "soap" than a toothbrush, maybe start with ultrasonic washer than finish with toothbrush :D

The smallest parts (springs particulary) do you think that needs to be cleaned or i'll put them back as they are?

Some grease is necessary on the buttons axle to give better moveability?

    Bye ;)

  8. I use an ultrasonic machine, but the toothbrush with dish soap much better.
It is important to also clean the springs, usually they have a lot of dirt.
I use silicone grease for all gaskets (buttons and case back),but it is for water resistance purposes. I use the same grease I use for the underwater camera, so it should work. You can find it in a lot of places, for example all dive shops. If you only want to improve the movement you can use any oil (better to use a silicone oil than a too hard one that could damage the case and buttons)

  9. Hi Toni! task succesfully ended!!! :D
Put back toghether every single piece, now my ARW-320 come back beeping!! :D

Yesterday night i washed watchcase, buttons and springs in the ultrasonic washer, than finished watchcase and buttons with toothbrush and dish-soap.

On the buttons I used a grease from a tamiya dynamic model and seems to have worked well for my purpose.

Tried also to replace the missing ring on a button without success (tried cutting a plastic circle with a leather "puncher" and than to screw an hole in the middle, resulting ring was too bad.

Tonight I put back all together. A great intuition was to use a little bit of grease on small button block-rings: they stay in place on the watchcase and with not much work aligned to button axle and snapped in.

Very satisfied and want to thank you a lot for your support! Without you I think that I broke something :D

Unfortunately no pics of the work... my digital cam was broken during summer :-( and phone camera definitely not good with macros :D

Thank you again and have another wonderful day ;-)
